CHF 250,–

Everything rests on the tip of motivation.

– Tibetan proverb

Our intentions — conscious or unconscious, big or small — contribute to our suffering or our happiness. Intentions are the seeds that become our garden. If we water intentions of kindness, compassion and generosity, we will cultivate their presence in our Hearts and lives.

Within a ‘yin’ approach to yoga and meditation, we can become more mindful of our intentions. The practice of stillness allows us to listen to and clarify our deeper intentions for practice and our life. Often we may practice yoga and meditation with an overemphasis on technique. But by shifting one’s approach from a technique-based practice to an intention-guided practice, we can more readily realize the tenderness and compassion of the unguarded Heart.

The Buddha defined Wise Intention as having three aspects: the intention of kindness, the intention of compassion and the intention of renunciation. Each intention serves the skillful cultivation of wisdom and love in our life. In this special three-part intensive, I will focus on one aspect of Wise Intention per session. We will use the quiet practices of Yin Yoga and Insight Meditation, followed by reflective writing, to shed light on intention, to learn from that intention, and to promote an onward cultivation of wisdom.

What is Yin Yoga?

Yin Yoga is a complementary yoga practice to more dynamic and active yoga styles. In Yin Yoga, floor postures are held passively for several minutes in order to access a safe and positive ‘stress’ on the deeper layers of connective tissue in the body.

Physically, Yin Yoga restores and maintains the natural mobility of the joints, primarily between the navel and the knees. Energetically, Yin Yoga opens the body’s meridian system, which enhances the body’s energetic flow and supports emotional equilibrium.

Yin Yoga emphasizes stillness and silence. The practice prepares both the body and mind for deeper experiences in meditation.

Josh’s Bio

Josh is a Yin Yoga teacher, a licensed acupuncturist, and a meditation instructor. Josh began studying Iyengar yoga in the early nineties with James Murphy in New York City. Since then, he has spent several years living abroad in India, Taiwan and Burma where he has studied both yoga and meditation. As his interest in vipassana or insight meditation developed so too did his interest in more contemplative forms of yoga practice. With a professional background in Oriental Medicine and a personal passion for the dharma, Josh fell in love with Yin Yoga as a beautiful synthesis of the two.

Josh now teaches workshops and trainings throughout the United States and Europe. For more information, please visit his website: www.joshsummers.net.
